Spelling should NOT be a major issue or hurdle
in our ability to communicate as human beings on this planet, should it?
Effective communication is key to us here at i.m.Press, makers of word spellers for American English. Sometimes spending incredible, inhumane hours sitting on our bums here in Rainier, Washington, USA expanding, by hand, our dictionary database to help everyone locate their word phonetically. After witnessing my daughter spend countless hours, year after year attempting to spell her words in her schoolwork in a logical, phonetic way was disheartening. She was one amongst over 20% or our nation who have some variant form of dyslexia. Dyslexics and those studying the English language for the first time will attempt to spell words with letters that make up that sound. But ph=f is only one amongst hundreds of exceptions to English being a user friendly language. And that's our job here at i.m.Press! Creating a bridge to link those who wish to communicate our language effectively and seamlessly.
We've spent 14 years in development and research attempting to improve search results for a misspelled. Expanding phonetic searches for a word by "how it sounds" is our mission in life. Any and all proceeds have gone back in to further development in building larger and even larger databases allowing you to find a correctly spelled word no matter how misspelled your word may be within seconds.
We have traveled various countries and most all parts of America attempting to include into our misspellings every conceivable dialect. As well, we pay very close attention to the fact that a youth, new to the English language, or an adult just learning English for the first time, may try to spell a word as they 'hear' it. And no one speaks the English language exactly the same.
We are always open to suggestions for new misspellings or help with streamlining the apps to be as useful and fast as possible. Our market is geared towards 3 years of age to infinity for we know that from the time you hear your first word, to the golden years where you forget where you put the spelling of that word, our American Wordspeller™ will be there helping you communicate effectively and quickly without undue stress.
Not one single genius developer who has crossed our path was able to distinguish a methodology which allowed any shortcuts for entries to this database. Computers cannot interpret misspelled words due to their inability to "hear". As much as we've tried for 14 years, the old-fashioned way of hand introducing every misspelling is still our modus operandi. And 65,000 words, combined with hundreds of thousands of misspellings, is merely a work in progress.
Our serious attempts throughout the years to convince large spell checker coporations to include our database into their word searches has fallen on deaf ears. This only fueled and prompted us to continue inventing new ways to get our dictionary to those who will value and dearly need it. All our American Wordspeller™ Apps are available on Smartphones and various tablets but our ultimate goal is to develop the App for use on every conceivable platform to enable them to run on your PC's and any other future technology which may erupt.
