Children's author, Karen Robertson, was inspired by her dyslexic sons to find new ways for kids to interact with stories. She started Treasure Bound Books to publish her "Treasure Kai" series and has published two award-winning book apps, "Treasure Kai and the Lost Gold of Shark Island" and "Treasure Kai and the Seven Cities of Gold."
The Treasure Kai book apps are so unique because they're a twist on the choose-your-adventure format, bringing kids into the story through touch and game play.
"My son is very dyslexic so when he chose storybook apps over game apps, I knew I had to turn my book into a book app. Book apps are his first choice because he can listen, follow along, touch and interact with stories," said Karen.
TBB also created a book app for nonprofit, Room to Read, to use as a fundraiser. "Zak the Yak with Books on His Back" was written by Room to Read founder, John Wood, to inspire kids to help others.
Treasure Bound Books was established in Sydney, Australia and is currently based in Austin, Texas.
